What are essential tools to help me manage change?

A change management toolbox should be supported by a sound approach. Based on our experience, the following tools could be powerful mechanisms to help you carry out your change management projects, specifically:

  • Context analysis
  • Communication plan
  • Detailed impact analysis
  • Transition plan
  • Change management strategy
  • Change management plan
  • Matrix of roles and responsibilities in change management

As well, you can assess the concerns of end-users and track these concerns by using the model and tool developed by Céline Bareil, associate professor and researcher at HEC Montréal. Brio Conseils holds an exclusive licence to use them with its clients.

A tool to assess the ability to change has also been developed by Alain Rondeau and Kevin Johnson from HEC Montréal. This diagnostic tool can be used as a dashboard to coordinate change management activities.

Context analysis

Context analysis is usually the first deliverable produced by the change management team during the implementation of a transformation project. The document aims to highlight the elements used to design the change management strategy thanks to information gathered about the organization (mission, business objectives, structure, etc.), the gaps identified between the current situation and the transformation target (desired situation), the reason for the change and the major impacts expected.
